Week Twenty-Four: The Advance in Technology

“The unexamined quest for knowledge is hemmed with peril, ” Raymo said in his piece, A Measure Of Restraint. Science has always come with negatives and it has affected us in many ways. The plane accifent from Southwest Airline can be seen as an example that just happened not so long ago. Planes have been around since 1903, when Wilbur and Orvill Wright made their first successful airplane. Traveling has never been so much easier but the invention also impacted humans negatively. Soutnwest Airline had an engine malfunction which lead to a deadly explosion that injured seven people and killed one person. Due to the advance in technology, many have had to deal with a problem that would not have happened if it was not for the invention of the plane. 
Moreover, during the band/orchestra trip to Orlando, around half of the band had to stay at the Detroit airport for over 12 hours because the plane kept on being delayed. Although they did not exactly experiece peril, they still had to go through the exhausting 12 hour wait filled wih boredom and tiredness.
As can be seen, science has come with many positives as well as negatives; it helped humans  in many ways but also caused trouble for us at times.
